spring

Here are a few reasons why spring is my favorite season.

1. Rain. It's one of the most soothing things in the world. I sleep the best when it's raining and I can listen to it through an open window. When it's warm rain, it's fun to play in too.

2. Baseball starts

3. Everything turns green. It's beautiful.

4. I can finally golf and play softball again.

5. The truck. My family has had the truck since the day I was born. When my Dad got ahold of it some 30 years ago, it was nothing but a big heap of rusted metal. Dad spent numerous hours welding, rebuilding, and fixing it up. I've loved this truck since I was a little kid. Spring is when the ol' girl gets to come out of the shed and get her first bath of the season. It's something I look forward to every year. We only drive it during the warm months of the year. She's 67 years old so we try to be careful with her.

Somehow, this is the only picture I have on my computer. This is my papa and his baby:

Unfortunately, I'm not going to have time to get it out while I'm home this weekend. However, I'm taking it to a wedding I'm going to on the 13th of May, so I won't have to wait much longer to get it ready to go.

hooray for me

I don't have the mumps or strep throat. Huzzah! I officially have "the crud". So now I'm on some medicine and it shall all go away soon.

This weekend I'm touring southern Minnesota. I'll make a stop at my parent's place so my dad can take a look at my car door. I can't open the driver's side door from the outside. As you may guess, this makes things inconvenient. Luckily for me, I can put down the windows from the outside using my key so it isn't too difficult. It's just annoying. So hopefully my resourceful father can do what he does and make it work. While he's taking a looking at it, I'll be on my way to Rochester with Claussen and Krispy. Claussen is signing a lease for a townhouse in Pine Island so I'm just going with for the ride. If I go home tomorrow night, I might try to sweet talk dad into getting out the old truck so I can wash it.

That's all for now. Make sure to watch The Office tonight. It looks like it'll be super funny.

suzy thinks I have the mumps

I'm still sick. I've had a sore throat since Monday of last week. I'm tired of it. Tomorrow I shall make an appointment to go to student death and get myself looked at. I'm starting to wonder if it's strep. I guess I'll find out in a couple of days. This is kind of a big deal for me. I don't go to doctors. I've never been to student death. The last time I went to the doctor was when I dislocated my knee in 2003. Even then, I waited a day before I went.

And now for something completely different.

At the beginning of February, my investments class picked 5 stocks to buy with about $11000 of my professor's own money. Since then, the value of the portfolio has gone up almost $3000. What happens to the profit? I'm glad you asked. 2/3 of it goes to the United Way. The other 1/3 goes to the class as a "management fee". This means that I'll walk out of class next Tuesday night with about $60 in cash. Our class will also be sending a check for almost $2000 to the United Way. This is pretty much the coolest thing I've ever done in a class. Not to mention we made a 25% return on investment in less than 3 months.

I wish all classes were that fun...

nifty

When I got my computer last fall, one of it's cooler features was that the monitor rotated 90 degrees so the screen was taller and less wide. Today I figured out how to rotate the image on the screen so I could actually read it when it was turned. It's pretty darn cool.

a lesson learned

I never would have guessed you could get a sunburn so bad that it swelled. My face is proof that it can happen. Ow.

ETA: My nose decided it wanted to blister. eew.

ugh

Well, I'm still alive...but barely.

Things got sketchy after all the good stuff earlier in the week. I now have three tests and a quiz under my belt. I'm glad that's over.

I've been sick all week. I've had a sore throat and stuffy head since Monday. I even skipped two classes, which is a lot for me. I've taken about 9 hours worth of naps since Tuesday, also a lot for me. Right now I'm at work and I want a nap, but no such luck for another 4 hours.

Fez had to go down the tunnel of no return this morning. The poor little guy had been sick since November. His little fishy gills just couldn't handle it anymore. *sniff*

Tomorrow I'm supposed to play oozeball. I don't know how I feel about it. It's SO fun, but I don't want to play and get any sicker than I already am. If I don't play, I leave my team a player short. It's a crapchute.

This weekend I also have to get to work on that stupid paper that I've been putting off. I'll be glad when that sucker is done. Then I can start working on the next one.

2.5 weeks until this semester is over. May 10th will be a very good day.

ETA: My favorite anti-bacterial lotion that I use at work is almost gone and I can only get the scent around christmas. Stupid seasonal lotion.

relief

I just realized that prescreen for my next death paper isn't until the 26th. That's seven more days than I thought I had. I'll probably put the paper off for at least 5 more of those days. The delay couldn't have come at a better time since I'm facing 3 tests and a quiz this week.

Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket. I've had some pretty good luck lately.

most ridiculous day ever

There was Chipotle, there was Cold Stone, there was baseball and there were cops.

We stopped in Mankato for Chipotle. It was delicious. Then Claussen wanted to stop at Cold Stone for dessert. But honestly, who can eat any more after they've been to Chipotle? Not me. So Jess and I made him wait until we got to Eden Prairie. After ice cream we drove over to St. Paul so he could get a keg system at Northern Brewer.

Game time. It was poster schedule day at the dome. We had fantastic seats that were two rows up from the bullpen. Baker was looking fantastic during the warm up, even though Mauer had a hard time actually getting him on the mound. Apparently Scotty just likes playing catch. The game got off to a good start. The good guys had a lead by the third inning and they didn't lose it for the rest of the night.

Imagine this if you will: It's between the 4th and 5th inning. Mr. Juan Rincon heads out to play catch with Shannon Stewart. As he's heading out, the lady behind us yells something out to the effect of "Rincon, you rule" which merits a nod and a smile from Boo. Once the inning begins, the lady and I get to joking around about how she's in the club and she begins to tell me a story from when she and her family met Rincon when they went to spring training in 2005. Mid-story, her husband says "heads up, there's a ball coming our way". So I turn to see whats up and there's a baseball so I grab it. At this point I'm the lucky recipient of a foul ball! Then my phone starts ringing like crazy. It seems that when I got the ball, the camera focused in on our area and all of my friends in section 135 were on tv with me. We were all so excited that when the awesome tag at home plate happened, we almost missed it. According to one of my phone calls, Posada was safe by a mile.

The good guys beat the evil empire with a final score of 5-1.

The drive home was mostly uneventful, until we got a little south of Trimont. We're driving along and all of a sudden we see a cop pass us. I'm not worried because I'm going about 60. Paranoia got to me as always, so I check out the rearview mirror. I proceed to see this guy turn around and start catching up to me. Crap. I figure he's going to pull me over for going 5 over the limit. Jerk. But no, he proceeds to follow me for 10 miles before finally deciding to pull me over "just to see if everything is ok". It seems that I crossed the "fog line" which was the deciding factor in him following me, then he told me that my license plate light was out (?) so when he ran my plates and found out where I was from he became suspicous when I was taking backroads because it wasn't near the town I was from. Translation: he thought we were drunk and trying to avoid him.

Mr. Robinson Cano,
Thanks for this:

Mr. Cop Guy Who Pulled Us Over For No Real Reason,
You suck

feelin' good

Lately I've talked to quite a few people I haven't talked to in a long time. Saturday I saw one of my best friends that I hadn't seen since Christmas. The same night I saw one of my best friends from high school that I hadn't seen or talked to in 3 years. Then last night I found myself talking to one of my friends that I haven't talked to in about a year. It was fantastic. I'm not good at staying in touch with people. In fact, I'm horrible. Catching up with 3 people in one week is a lot for me. I hope it continues.

Monday when I requested a bunch of days off, I got every single one that I wanted. That doesn't happen much. One of those days is this Friday because I'm going to the Twins game!! I'm absolutely giddy. There's nothing like live baseball. Plus we'll be sitting right by the bullpen (seriously, row 2!). Either Santana or Baker will be pitching, so either way I win when it comes to warm-ups.

My transpod(see picture in the post below) is "out for delivery" so it should be at my apartment when I get home from work...just in time for my tour around Southern Minnesota.

Tomorrow I get to go home. I might even get the time to go golfing while I'm there. *gasp* It would be a miracle. I just feel sorry for the rest of the people on the course...it has been a couple of years since I've been out. Granted, I should work on a paper, but a girl needs to have priorities.

School is going ok. I took a test Monday and I've been on downhill slide ever since. Next week won't be as good since I have three tests and the prescreen of a paper due, so I'm going to enjoy this week while I've got it.

shiny

I'm weak. I just ordered this charger/fm transmitter for my iPod.

It'll be here Wednesday. *excited* The best part: it was $50 less than it would have been if I were to purchase it at Best Buy thanks to a lower original price and a $25 rewards certificate.

In other exciting news: I think I'm going to the Twins game Friday night! It'll be my only chance this season to boo the f'in yankees so I feel obligated to be there.

lost

I try to be nice to everyone. I think it's the right thing to do. The restraints are starting to break. People have been pissing me off lately and I'm about ready to burst. Honestly, if I say what I think about some people, there's a good chance that they'll never speak to me again. But there are more people involved than those particular people and myself. I refuse to be selfish and screw up friendships within an entire group. I don't know where to begin so I'm not even going to try.

I'm also starting to rethink my plans for after college. Half of me wants to stick with my original plans and the other half wants to go somewhere and start all over.

Who has a map I can borrow? I might need it...

story time

Girl has headache which she thinks is developing into a migraine. Girl skips her last class of the day to go home and rest. Girl goes to work. Girl thinks she made a mistake. Luckily for Girl, it is the day work is testing fire alarms. Girl almost cries. Girl wonders if she should go home. Most days, it wouldn't be a no brainer. Today however has special circumstances. Girl's boss is at home with her daughter whose wounds from surgery are infected. Girl's co-worker's brother had a heart attack and is in the hospital. Girl's co-worker is at work, but Girl thinks co-worker wants to leave work and go to the hospital.

Question of the day:
What does Girl do?

happy twins opener!

Today is finally the day. After the long and cold winter months, Twins baseball is back. As you all know, I'm quite excited. However, Tuesdays I have my night class from 5-7:30. I won't get to sit on the couch at 5:30 and watch the pre-game show. I won't get to watch the first half of the game. I won't get to see Johann sit down his first bitch of the season. This makes me sad.

Last night I went to a lecture/panel Q&A about Korea. Going in, I didn't know much about Korea other than the conflicts we're currently having with North Korea. I learned a lot. Did you know North Korea currently has enough plutonium to make 10 nuclear weapons? That's scary stuff right there. In June, the US is also is going to begin deliberations with the South Korean government on a free trade agreement. It'll be the biggest trade agreement the US has entered into since NAFTA. My friend Claussen is going to South Korea next month. Now I'm especially jealous. S. Korea was never on my checklist of potential vacation destinations...it has now been added.

It's nice outside, like really nice. I walked to class this afternoon. My shoes decided they didn't like the walking so much. I now have a blister. How do you get a blister from a pair of tennis shoes that you've worn for over a year? I'm confused by this. I didn't go very far...it's only 20 minutes each way. *shrug*

In conclusion, GO TWINS!

I love ya, tomorrow....you're only a day away

It's been a long winter. *giddy*
