"And if this were my career, I'd have to throw myself in front of a train"

...my TV boyfriend Jim Halpert from The Office.

I hate it when I wake up in the morning in a good mood only to come to work and have my day take a complete 180 in less than 30 minutes. I really don't like this place or the person I work for and I can't get out of here fast enough. I don't like to complain about it publicly because I know that gets old rather fast. So sorry about this.

The absolute latest day I will be quitting this job is November 23rd and that's less than two months away. Thank goodness. Then hopefully I'll be on to a part of my life that doesn't suck so much.

out on the town

I went downtown with friends Friday night. This is the first time in a long time I went out and had more than a couple of drinks...if you know what I mean :) I ran into a lot of people I knew and it was a blast. As posted on Jess' blog, she got a new camera. We decided it would be smart to take it for a test run. Here are a few of the highlights:

MMM...Boulevard with an orange (none of that lemon crap)

Me and Ike with our german chocolate cake shots...delicious

Andy and Me...we played softball together this summer. He works for the same bank that I work for.

Possibly the best group shot taken in self-portrait mode. Cy, Jess, Nick, Heath and Me.

Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile.

-William Cullen Bryant

Autumn is my second favorite season, after Spring. Here's why:

  • Hot tea
    • I make the switch from iced tea to hot tea...I love it.
  • Hoodies
    • Probably the most comfortable article of clothing ever invented.
  • Baseball Playoffs & World Series
    • Does this point really need explanation? Rarely am I ever so excited and nervous at the same time, especially when the Twins are involved.
  • Trees
    • Possibly the most beautiful thing on earth is when leaves on the trees start changing colors.
  • First snowfall
    • It's like the first, warm rain in the summer. It's simply beautiful.
  • Awesome going for walks weather
    • Not too hot, not too cold. It's so easy to just grab the iPod and go.
  • Winter bedding
    • Ah, easy sleeping. Flannel sheets, fleece blanket and a thick comforter. It makes a bed a safe haven of coziness.
  • Last semester of college
    • This makes the list this year because it's the last time I'll ever go back to school on a full time basis. December 9th I get the heck out of here! :)

I gotta go Julia, we got cows!!

This weekend there were some pretty bad storms here in eastern South Dakota. Imagine my surprise when I got out of the shower and heard the tornado sirens going off. So I turned on the good ol' tv to find out we were in a tornado warning and there was rotation over the SDSU campus (4ish blocks west of where I live).

I live on the top floor of my apartment building. It's a flight and a half of stairs to get to my floor. I understand that during a tornado you're supposed to go to the basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of your dwelling. In the basement, even if the house or building is ripped off of the foundation, you're still sitting on the ground. So you don't get sucked out of your home and shot half way across the county, but at the same time, why would you want to go to the basement and risk being crushed by 3 floors of debris? I'm not sure which is worse.

I'm boring

But I'm still alive and less sick by a lot. yay!

It was a quiet weekend spent in Brookings with friends. I played Yahtzee, went to the movie Invincible, watched a few Twins' games, and went out to lunch with Ike. Some may consider that boring, but it rocked my world. Oh, and I slept a lot...which was also super.

I'm expecting something in the mail towards the middle of the week. My brother called Saturday morning asking for my address. He didn't say he was sending anything, but why else would he want my address. I'll let you know if it's anything cool because I'm sure you're all dying to know. hee.
