it's over

and I'm safe.

However, I can't say the same thing for 13 others in my office. What a crappy day.

what's happening in my world

I'm afraid it's going to be a long week...

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--UBS AG (UBS) plans to cut roughly 2,000 jobs in its U.S. wealth-management business, according to people familiar with the situation.

The layoffs, expected to occur next week, are part of the Swiss bank's plans to reduce its headcount globally by 8,700 and cut operating costs by 15%. Both measures were announced by new Chief Executive Oswald Grubel at the bank's annual meeting in Zurich on Wednesday.

The cuts in the U.S. are expected to include some lower-producing financial advisers, rookie brokers and support staff, the sources said.

Last Thursday, UBS Wealth Management U.S. head Marten Hoekstra discussed pending job cuts during a conference call with employees. Hoekstra said that despite the layoffs, UBS has no plans to exit the U.S. wealth-management business.

In the U.S., UBS had 8,182 financial advisers at the end of the fourth quarter.

In March, UBS said it would sell up to 55 of its 406 U.S. wealth-management branches to Stifel Financial Corp. (SF). The branches, located in 24 states, include about 320 financial advisers with approximately $15 billion in assets under management. They are mainly lower-producing UBS offices concentrated in smaller towns.

Shares of UBS recently traded up 21 cents, or 1.9%, at $11.44.

I Love You Man

To add to the movie marathon weekend, I saw this movie today. I LOVED it.

2 of my favorite actors + too many awkward moments to count = awesome. You should go see it.

movie marathon

I had today off. In honor of my three day weekend, Ace and I decided to get movies. My trip to the Redbox got a little out of control. In a 20 hour span, we watched the following (in order):

Slumdog Millionaire
Seven Pounds
Sex Drive
Rachel Getting Married
The Rocker
Doubt

I liked all of the movies except Doubt. I guess I just expected more out of it. What a great day to not be at work :)

A decent weekend

Friday night = Wild game. We had awesome seats:

We're not a bad looking group of hockey fans either:
The Wild won 4-0. Then it was off to Dixies for a post game beer.

Saturday led to a haircut, a few hours at the office, a stop at my sister's, some shopping and a birthday party in St. Paul.

I spent Sunday sleeping. I watched a couple of movies in there too but it was all about the sleep.

Today (which really isn't a part of the weekend) we had a Twins Home Opener Potluck at the office. It included a few baseball themed games and was a good time.
