10 days

That's how much longer I'll be hating fun. That's how many days are left until my summer classes are over. But once I get to that point, it'll all be good. I better get at it. I've got two tests to prepare for and three assignments to finish.

Oh, and I need to get back to watching Joe Mauer go 5 for 5. H-O-T.

So there I was at the HyVee

Ok, so I wasn't at the HyVee but I typed in "so" and that's what I got.

Drunkness factor: Johan Santana (for those of you don't follow baseball, 57%)

I had softball tonight. I SUCKED...and not in a good way. I had to pitch because our normal pitcher was gone. It was awful. I wanted to cry. I wanted to cry because I was so frustrated. We were playing a good team and my defense was sucking it up, but still, I hated it. We lost by a lot in both games. However, a guy asked for my number at the bar, so that was kinda exciting. (it doesn't happen often...go figure) And he's super sweet, but I'm sure nothing will come of it.
Anyway, nothing has updated in a while so I figured I'd throw something up here.

More random thinking:
How are you good at something one year, and absolutley awful the next? I havne't done a darn thing all year in softball? I HATE being bad at stuff. My defense was never great, but it was nothing to shake a fist at either. My offense used to be awesome. Now it's shite. I could actually hit a ball out of the infield. Oh well, as well as it's fun it's ok, right? Most nights I have fun, but not tonight.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, I'm gonna go put some food in my stomach otherwise it'll be an ugly morning.

goodnight and sweet dreams everyone!!

mojito

This post has nothing to do with mojitos, but there is a Bacardi mojito commercial on right now that's kinda cool.

Today I didn't do much of anything. It was fantastic. I slept in late which was a nice change from the several nights of 4 to 5 hours of sleep I got during the week. I drove Ike to her car around 3:30 and on the way back we stopped and got giant sodas at the HyVee gas station. Then it was back to the apartment to finish watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The game was on at 6. It was rockin' awesome to see the guys win their 6th game in a row and to watch Joe Nathan get is 3rd save in 3 nights.

Not knowing what to do at that point, I decided to go for a walk. There is a lovely park across the road from where I live. For reasons unknown to me, I've never taken advantage of it in the almost 2 years I've lived in this apartment. There is a gravel walking/jogging path that I may or may not have fallen in love with. It seems like you're out in the middle of nowhere . It was nice because no one could see my feeble attempts at "running". It was mostly a walk, but I'm trying to work up my running powers. I might get up and go again in the morning before it gets too hot. If I do, I'm going to bring my camera with and take some pictures. It's too beautiful not to share with everyone out there in blogger land.

Random thinking of the day:

On the way back from taking Ike to her car, I saw a mile marker that I never remember seeing before and it got me thinking.

This particular mile marker was 412. I live on the eastern side of the state. Mile markers start at 1 on the western and northern borders of the state. I have no problem with starting at the north part of the state, rivers flow from north to south, etc. It's the western edge that I wonder about. How was it decided that it should start in the west and end at the east. Yes, I realize that books are read from left to right and from the top to the bottom of the page which fits the pattern of how this mile marker thing works.

Logic makes me think that the numbers should start in the east and and increase as one goes west. After all, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Also, this country was founded in the east. The first roads made were actually trails, but they were built for pioneers traveling west. It just seems that the natural progression in this situation would be to start in the east and work west. I'm thinking too much into it, I just thought it was thought provoking.

keeping the faith...

I help out church league softball team, I get help. hmmm

As mentioned in my previous post, I've been pressed for time. The 4 am bed time yesterday caused me to sleep through my alarm and not go to the two hours of work I normally go to before class (oops). The rain graced us with its presence today and softball was cancelled as a result. I got three extra hours to my day! I had the baseball game on while I was reading (another grand slam...are you kidding me!?!!!). I now have my individual and group assignments done and am ready to take one of my tests!

Tomorrow Today I take test #1 at 10:30. I think it'll be ok. Then work until 5. Then I come home and read during the Twins game and take the second test after the game is over as long as it's done by 11:55 pm. I could probably take it while watching the game, it's multiple choice. Then I sleep.

Speaking of sleep, I'm going to go get about 4 hours worth. I'm headed to bed a full hour before I did yesterday!

Cause I'm in too deep...

...and I'm trying to keep, up above in my head, instead of going under.

I'm starting to think that taking six credits worth of classes (in five weeks), working 25-30 hours a week and playing on two softball teams is a bit much for me to handle. Go figure.

Part of it is my fault. I’m too nice to say no. One of the guys I work with at the bank asked me if I would help them out at softball because he thought they would be short on girls. I said sure figuring it was just for tonight’s games. I get to talking with one of the coaches during the game and he said they were almost always short on girls and wondered if I was interested in playing with them every week.

I love softball. That isn’t a secret. The people on this team are great. They’re super fun and the whole system is really relaxed. There are no official umps and people are just there to have fun. I never pictured myself playing softball on a church league but it might just turn out to be great.

Then there’s school. It’s kicking my ass. I have two tests coming up in the next two days. The test for my internet class is due sometime between now and Thursday at 11:55 pm. My other test is in class on Thursday. I also have to get a group project finished, an individual assignment finished, finish the reading for my two classes (I have approx one chapter to read for each class), and prepare for the darn tests. I have softball again tomorrow night which basically means I’m busy from 8am to 9pm tomorrow (there’s work and class in there too).

Right now I’m taking a break from typing an essay for the group project previously mentioned. I suppose I should get back at it. Maybe when I’m done with this I’ll read one of those chapters and get to work on that individual assignment. I have a couple of long nights ahead of me.

losers quit when they're tired, but winners are tired when they quit

Believe me, I'm tired. For two hours everything in the world was right: the hum of the lights, the smell of sweat, dirt and bug spray filled the air, and the sounds of balls hitting bats and then hitting leather. We won both games. The first game we won 19-7 and the second we won 15-0. It was cool. Everything just clicked.

However, I was reminded how out of shape I am. I ran a lot at the games. Probably more than I've ran in like 5 years. Running and I don't get along. Regardless of our past, I think we are going to have to learn how to get along. I'm not going to be one of those run for fun people. In all reality, I'll probably go a couple of times and quit. We'll just have to see how it goes.
