1995 Pontiac Bonneville and the fuel door is on the driver side (you know, where it makes sense to have the fuel door). I had a Neon like Beth and it drove me insane that the fuel door was on the opposite side of the car.
(I've heard they put the fuel door on the passenger side for safety reasons: if someone runs out of gas, they'll be pulled over to the side of the road putting gas in their car. If the fuel door is on the driver's side, they're standing near the traffic. If it's on the passenger side, they're standing on the opposite side of the car as the traffic.)
I'm not getting a new car as of right now. I was just curious if all different brands of cars put their fuel doors on the same side. My brother and I both drive VWs and both of our fuel doors are on the passenger side.
know what? intrigued by your question, i started observing cars on the way to and from work. a good 80% have them on the driver's side. interestingly, i did see variance between certain models by the same maker. ford explorers were on the driver's side, but tauruses (taurii?), as we said, were not,
I drive a Dodge (Neon, if it matters), and the fuel door is on the passenger side.
ReplyDeleteI drive a 2004 Mit. Gallant, and the fuel door is on the driver side.

ReplyDeleteOld Boofster, the Toyota, has the gas tank on the driver's side. My Mazda's (a protege and a 626) also had the gas tank on the driver's side.
ReplyDelete2005 Nissan Sentra, affectionately known as Trey, short for Charles Emerson Winchester the third, driver's side.
ReplyDeleteare you getting a new car?
The B-Lazer (loving made be Chevrolet) is adorned by a tank on the driver's side.
ReplyDeleteIn high school the Chevy Malibu had one in the back under the license plate...that way I could just pull up wherever and it'd work.

ReplyDeletethe fine motor carriage has it on the driver's side but the good ol' taurus had it on the opposite.
ReplyDeleteNick's Taurus has it on the passenger as well, just to increase your sample size.
